The Memorial Hearings create spaces of listening and respect for family memories of the Spanish Civil War and the subsequent Francoist dictatorship. They are public events where silence is broken in front of citizens and public authorities, resulting in a necessary and still insufficient moral and symbolic reparation in Spain.
